Trattoria Da Gigio is a non-descript and understated restaurant located on a pretty busy street. It doesn't overtly market itself to tourists as it seems to be already frequented by both Italian-speaking customers and random tourist walk-ins based on my lone visit. Their wait staff speak English and were able to take my reservation over the phone. The mixed seafood appetizer was a great introduction to some Venetian classics/specialties. The baked scallop was actually served separately (still bubbling hot) by the chef himself. The pasta dishes came out steaming hot as well and were huge! Each dish can feed one very very hungry person or comfortably feed two people. Delicious food in a welcoming atmosphere. Staff are attentive and friendly, and the menu is handwritten, suggesting it changes. The food is amazing, we opted for mussels to start. This was a large bowl, which was more than enough to share. The sauce was incredible. For main, we had octopus and tuna. Both were cooked to perfection, along with the accompanying polenta and roast vegetables. Highly recommended

We had octopus ragout and spaghetti allio olio with calms, plus a gigio appetizer for starters. Absolutely delicious! Generous portions, great prices, and top quality. The menu suggests ordering a starter, a first course, a second course, and dessert – but there’s no way you can finish it all, the servings are huge. We can recommend this place with a clear conscience

Excellent Trattoria! Cooked by local. Fully recommend it, its hard to find in this tourist neighborhood a real Venecian Trattoria. We ate fresh grilled Tuna (with polenta!) and Ravioli di Zuca (pumkin), both dishes 10/10. We will come back!

This cozy family-run restaurant serves authentic Venetian dishes full of tradition and flavor. It’s not a tourist trap.
We tried the tuna with vegetables and the veal liver, both prepared Venetian style, and they were beautifully balanced and delicious. A warm, genuine atmosphere. We stood in the small garden with a great smell of lemon in the air, made the experience even better.

Five star all the way! Great service from the moment we walked in the door! Food was excellent and wine was great! We went for the four cheese pizza. It was a great option for an afternoon with a glass of wine and a beer for my husband. The service was excellent and we look forward to returning.

A cozy restaurant with local vibes and food that felt homemade in the best way! Had the scallops and two pasta dishes - the pasta with clams and tomatoes was incredible! Great portion sizes, and a Venezian menu that felt very different and refreshing.

This was our last night in Venice so we wanted to make sure it ended on a fantastic meal. This restaurant did not disappoint. We first started off with fried calamari with polenta. We were a bit confused at first when the calamari wasn’t served with a side sauce. Let me tell you, it was not needed. Just a little bit of lemon freshly squeezed over it, and it was heavenly. It was crispy, fresh and tasted great on its own. The polenta was also extremely well made and was a good compliment. Our main courses were both fresh handmade pasta with mine being loaded with cured meats, and my wife’s with mushrooms and scallops. Incredibly well sized portions that didn’t leave you hungry and a taste that had you itching for more. We also indulged in a tasty tiramisu which was out of this world. This is a restaurant I highly recommend as there was nothing bad about this entire dining experience!- Servizio

This is where Italians come to eat. The freshest seafood I ate in Venice, and the service was so warm and friendly. The portions were huge but everything was just so delicious, we were spoiled for choice. They have a mix of authentic Venetian dishes and crowd favourites, so there is definitely something for everyone. I can’t wait to come back here!

Food was really good. It was quite different from a traditional italian place that you find everywhere Italy 🇮🇹. Great service. You can sit outside in front of the restaurant, inside where there is air conditioner or in the garden as well. I would definitely recommend this place!

The true definition of homemade food! So delicious and worth each penny! We stayed 6 days in Venice and we were very disappointed by the restaurant choices we made except for this one which was exceptional! Cozy place and calme ambiance. Friendly staff!
Great place for local, fresh food. Octopus ragu was especially delicious! Recommended.
